Hucknall & Linby Mining Community Brass Band is a friendly, youthful band based in Nottingham. The band were formed in 2008 and since then have gone from strength to strength, currently competing in the First section of Brass Banding. Comprising members from throughout Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire the band rehearses once a week on a Thursday evening in Hucknall. As a band we have a youthful outlook on music and brass banding and this generates a uniquely friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
Musical Director - Paul Whyley
Paul's interest in music began at the age of eight and his musical career has spanned over forty years. Working through the whole range of brass band instruments, Paul finally settled as principal E flat bass player with championship band, Newstead Brass.
Paul started his conducting career with the Newstead Youth Band (later Newstead Abbey Brass) when it was formed in 2001. His dedication and commitment to teaching the young players the basics of good playing were rewarded with two appearances in three years at the National Brass Band Championship Finals of Great Britain.
